Walk Off The Earth | MTelus | Montreal Event Photographer

Canadian pop band Walk Off The Earth brought their high energy live show to a sold out MTelus last night, to the delight of a crowd that ranged from 3 years old all the way up to over 60.

It has been only a couple of months since the passing of Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor, but that didn’t seem to stop WOTE from giving it everything they had and making all their fans dance the night away. The photo pit was packed with confetti canons, smoke machines, CO2 spouts and pretty much everything you would need to throw a giant party.

Bands that put on such an intense visual show are amazingly fun to photograph, but very hard at the same time. There is action all over the place. Every member seems to be doing something fun, add to that the random projections in the background, the potential for confetti blasts, you really aren’t sure where to point your lens. You need to remind yourself that there is no way to capture everything single bit of the show.

Having heard about the band live, I knew the stage would be packed with stuff. So I decided to leave the long 70-200 lens at home and opt for the ultra wide 16-35 as my second lens. Always easier to capture the story of the stage with a wide angle.

Photos were done for Virgin Radio Montreal and iHeartradio.ca. You can see the full media set HERE

Below, as per usual, are my faves of the set and some exclusive black and whites !!
